Position Title: School Social Worker / School Counselor

Position Type: Student Support Services – Social Worker

Location: Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL)

Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year

Employment Type: Full School Year (2025-2026)



Position Overview:

SEDOL is seeking qualified School Social Workers and School Counselors for the 2025-2026 school year. The role includes participation in IEP meetings, conducting individual case study evaluations, performing functional behavioral analyses, and developing behavior intervention plans. The social worker will support students with behavioral concerns, implement positive behavioral support strategies, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators. Additionally, they will lead social skills groups using a social-emotional curriculum tailored for low-incidence populations.



Qualifications:

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in School Social Work or School Counseling


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual, group, and family treatment to enhance student success.
  2. Offer crisis intervention services for students, schools, and the community.
  3. Consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and community agencies.
  4. Conduct diagnostic evaluations for identified students in a timely manner.
  5. Maintain expertise in Adaptive Behavior Scales and complete assessments for identified students.
  6. Serve as a lead member of the WRAP team, as needed.
  7. Establish and maintain linkages with community agencies for student support.
  8. Stay current with professional development in the field.
