The Department of Psychology at the University at Albany, SUNY, invites applications for a full-time, ten-month, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025-2026 academic year. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of three years, subject to mutual agreement, availability of funds, continued need, and satisfactory performance.



The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester, in addition to contributing to departmental service. The area of specialization is open and teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, introductory statistics, Introduction to Psychology, and other undergraduate psychology classes as needed.



The candidate may be required to teach in various modalities?including in-person, remote, or online?at the University's discretion, and should be prepared to teach courses scheduled during the day or in the evening.



Primary Responsibilities:




+ Teaching three courses per semester (9 credit hours)


+ Department, College, and University Service and other reasonable duties as assigned




Functional and Supervisory Relationships:




+ Reports to Chair of Psychology


+ May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling position)




Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:




+ A Master's Degree or advanced Ph.D. candidate (ABD with expected doctoral degree by May 2026) from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 6/1/2025. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.


+ Experience teaching undergraduate courses


+ Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community


+ Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role




Preferred Qualifications:




+ Ph.D. in Psychology


+ Experience teaching Introduction to Psychology and undergraduate statistics




Working Environment:




+ Typical office environment


+ Instruction in small and large classrooms and online; lecture and seminar format classrooms

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Visiting Assistant Professor (10 Months), $50,000
