Position Summary
This full-time position oversees the Community Counseling Clinic on the Charlotte, NC campus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. The incumbent will manage the operations of the center, establishing and maintaining relationships with community referral sources, providing clinical supervision to student interns, and overseeing the center’s support staff.

This full-time position oversees the Community Counseling Clinic on the Charlotte, NC campus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. The incumbent will manage the operations of the center, establishing and maintaining relationships with community referral sources, providing clinical supervision to student interns, and overseeing the center’s support staff.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop Counseling Center
- Oversee the opening of Gordon-Conwell’s Community Counseling Center including supervising office setup, website content, and marketing materials in alignment with Gordon-Conwell’s values and mission.
- Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with broad spectrum of referral sources, such as area churches and other local organizations or networks.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Community Counseling Center, including maintaining HIPAA compliance in all relevant aspects.
- Maintain an operations handbook for the Community Counseling Center.
Manage Counseling Center Caseload & Staff
- Supervise Community Counseling Center’s administrative assistant, including hiring additional personnel as approved, approving time sheets, and completing annual performance reviews.
- Responsible to see 5 – 7 clients per week during the Fall and Spring semesters
- Attend and participate in Gordon-Conwell counseling department meetings.
- Monitor weekly referrals and weekly revenue to ensure consistency.
- Work with Finance department to track center’s monthly budget.

- Orient practicum and/or internship students to policies and procedures of the Community Counseling Center.
- Complete all clinical training forms for students, as required by the MACC program.
- Provide weekly supervision to practicum and/or internship students; track student hours as appropriate.

- Clinical Supervision Skills: Must provide systemic, facilitative, conceptual, or catalytic supervision as appropriate.
- Entrepreneurial Skills: Ability to establish and grow a vision for the counseling center
- Leadership Skills: Must possess skills to lead, organize, equip, and motivate staff members, including supervision of interns’ and support staff’s responsibility.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness: Personal warmth, ease in developing relationships, exceptional interpersonal communication skills, and evident grace and thoughtfulness in relationships with a diverse network of community resources. Commitment to collegiality, diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communication with others.
- Customer Service: Strong customer service skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy with students, coworkers, and constituents.
- Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and serve in a team environment that requires collegiality and regular collaboration.
- Technical Knowledge: Competency with Microsoft Office, prioritizing Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to use web conferencing software (e.g., Zoom) required.
- Knowledge and Discernment: Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and be capable of functioning effectively within a matrixed environment.
- Reporting and Monitoring: Ability to generate reports and track student clinical hours.
- Clear understanding of the mission of the Seminary and willingness to abide by the Community Life Statement of GCTS.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in the field of Clinical Mental Health Counseling or related field required.
- Licensed as an LCMHC in NC required. Ability to obtain NC clinical supervision license (LCMHC-QS or LCMHCS) prior to September 1, 2026.
- Substantive experience with program development, implementation, and management preferred.
- Training and experience in clinical supervision with robust clinical experience.
