About Job
Overview: The Community Life Ministry offers after school programming for elementary aged children called “After the Bell.” This ministry provides quality, affordable childcare for working parents who choose to have their children spend the afternoons with us. We are intentional about sharing the Gospel and providing Christ-like care.
Work Hours: 2 pm -6 pm | Monday-Friday | During the school year
Position Profile:
- Have a heart for sharing the Gospel with children between Kindergarten and 6th grade
- Work well with a team and with autonomy
- Model Christ-like behavior for other counselors and children
- Model enthusiastic, energetic attitude for other counselors and children
- Be punctual and exhibit a strong work ethic
- Previous experience with children is preferred
Responsibilities:
- Attend daily meeting at 2 pm for daily assignments
- Ride the shuttle bus and take attendance at elementary school carpool
- Supervise and lead a group of 10-15 children each day
- Lead small group Bible discussions and life application of Bible lessons
- Know children by name
- Lead games and “filler” activities as needed
- Lead homework time and assist in answering questions as needed
- Supervise and interact with children during snack time
- Supervise bathrooms and locker rooms as activities require
- Help lead recreation time each day
- Handle discipline issues with children and note in discipline log as needed
- Handle minor first-aid issues
