Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals facing challenges related to mental health and addiction. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will leverage your lived experience to foster hope, resilience, and recovery in others. You will work collaboratively with clients, helping them navigate systems and access resources that promote their well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals seeking recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Utilize personal experiences to mentor clients, offering insights that encourage self-advocacy and empowerment.
  • Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery-oriented practices, including motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and crisis management skills.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Engage in crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Help clients navigate healthcare systems and connect them with appropriate resources, including addiction counseling and social work services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
  • Experience or training in addiction counseling or mental health counseling is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and crisis management techniques.
  • Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to inspire hope and motivation in others.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies and social work principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, demonstrating empathy and active listening skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in areas related to mental health and addiction recovery.
