Qualification Requirements
- Psychologist must have the following minimum experience: at least twenty four (24) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein, in a public or private institution. Internship experience does not count toward the required experience.
- All Psychologists must have the required licenses, permits, and/or certifications as noted.
- Patient care is of paramount importance. Accuracy in communications is critical to ensure timely, correct care is provided. Therefore, any licensed Psychologist providing services under this Agreement must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively with staff. All Psychologists must be able to speak, understand oral and written communication, and write effectively, in English. Any Psychologist who fails to meet the minimum qualifications shall not be permitted to perform services. The Institution’s CEO/Healthcare Manager or designee shall provide written reasons if a Psychologist does not meet qualifications, and submit them to the Vendor Manager and the Contracts Management Team. The Facility shall not pay for any services provided by a Psychologist who does not meet the minimum qualifications once notification is given.
Service Delivery Requirements
Under the direction of the Supervising Psychologist and/or Mental Health Chief, the Psychologist provides psychological services to mentally ill individuals. Psychologists maintain order, supervise patient conduct, ensure safety, and perform other related duties. The Psychologist must be able to work in conditions requiring the following essential functions:
a. Serve as clinician-of-the-day and be available for on-call during scheduled workdays for emergencies;
b. Work cooperatively with staff from various disciplines to maintain professional relationships;
c. Conduct initial evaluations including psychological, criminal, and substance use history to assess needs and make treatment recommendations;
d. Perform suicide risk assessments using protocols, documentation, and consultations;
e. Provide crisis intervention, group therapy, and face-to-face interviews (including cell-front if needed);
f. Identify signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders for assessment and treatment planning;
g. Administer, score, and interpret psychological assessments;
h. Write clinical reports, diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans consistent with standard practices;
i. Consult on complex cases with supervisors and interdisciplinary teams;
j. Document all services, including treatment team meetings and direct contact;
k. Monitor progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation (SOAPE) progress notes;
l. Apply appropriate treatment modalities and maintain ethical standards;
m. Conduct Mental Status Exams during interviews;
n. Review previous records and reports to aid diagnosis and treatment planning;
o. Develop community relationships as approved to support reintegration;
p. Provide mental health education and resources for patients, including those with sexual offenses;
q. Assist patients in applying for benefits (e.g., SSI) and community services;
r. Participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings;
s. Compile and analyze audit data related to mental health programs;
t. Provide documentation for administrative tracking (appointments, no-shows, etc.);
u. Prepare reports and consult with parole boards or similar entities;
v. Communicate with family/caregivers only after receiving written patient consent;
w. Build therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and caretakers, as assigned;
x. Represent the department in meetings and public forums as needed;
y. Maintain order and supervise individuals in custody to prevent harm or escape;
z. Contribute ideas and implementation support for new treatment or rehabilitation programs;
aa. Adhere to state laws and institutional policies on confidentiality and medical documentation;
bb. Fulfill mandatory reporting duties in cases of suspected abuse, self-harm, or threats to others.

Pay: $160.00 - $162.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
