Job Summary
Academic and Career Education Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time or full-time high school counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and resources to help students navigate their educational journey, develop essential life skills, and achieve their personal and academic goals. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive school environment and promoting student well-being.

Responsibilities

- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, personal, and social issues.
- Develop and implement guidance programs that address the needs of students and promote their overall well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success and address any concerns.
- Assist students in developing academic plans and setting realistic educational and career goals.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics such as study skills, stress management, and college readiness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
- Provide crisis support and implement prevention programming in collaboration with school staff and community partners.
- Stay informed about community resources and services to provide students and families with appropriate referrals.
- Participate in school events and activities to foster a positive school culture and promote community engagement.
- Stay current with best practices in school counseling and participate in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

· Valid Michigan School Counselor License or NT endorsement required at time of employment

· Previous experience in a counseling role, preferably in a high school setting

· Strong understanding of adolescent development and issues facing high school students

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Proficiency in using technology and counseling software

· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in counseling practices

· Ability to adapt to a dynamic school environment and respond to the needs of diverse student populations

This role is essential for nurturing the holistic development of each student within the school community.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
