We are seeking compassionate, proactive, and student-centered Career Counselors to join our growing team. In this role, you will play an essential part in supporting students along their academic and career development journeys. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mentoring, counseling, or academic advising and be committed to helping individuals identify their strengths, explore career options, and develop personalized action plans for success.
This position requires the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations, communicate effectively, and utilize assessment tools and career planning platforms. A passion for student development and a solution-oriented mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group career counseling sessions to help students identify academic interests and potential career paths.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ skills, interests, personality traits, and values to support informed career decision-making.
- Advise students on aligning academic plans with long-term career goals, including course selection and internship opportunities.
- Facilitate engaging workshops on career-readiness topics such as resume writing, interviewing skills, job search techniques, and workplace professionalism.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to create and promote career development programming.
- Represent the organization at recruitment events, career fairs, and community outreach efforts to expand employer connections and student opportunities.
- Stay current with labor market trends and industry demands to ensure career guidance remains relevant and responsive.
- Maintain detailed student records and prepare written reports as needed to track progress and support funding or programmatic requirements.
Qualifications:
- Experience in career counseling, academic advising, or student support services, preferably within an educational or workforce development setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with student information systems such as Ellucian or PeopleSoft is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in individual and group counseling techniques.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear reports and facilitate dynamic workshops.
- Understanding of current employment trends, workplace competencies, and the evolving needs of young professionals.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a supportive environment for all learners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
