Position Details

Zeeland Public Schools has a wonderful opportunity for a School Psychologist to join our team. The School Psychologist works in collaboration with building-level and district-level teams to facilitate and support the implementation of our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including both academic and behavioral components.

Responsibilities:

  • Tier 1: Support the teaching of behavioral expectations per building rubrics, reinforcing positive behavior with acknowledgement system, and direct instruction of social-emotional learning (SEL) in all classrooms.
  • Tier 2: Involvement in benchmark meetings that include review and analysis of academic and behavioral data (including SWIS and Student Risk Screening Scale-Internalizing/Externalizing) and intervention design/implementation.
  • Tier 2: Use of problem-solving model in Student Support Team (SST) meetings using Meeting Mechanics.
  • Tier 3: Conduct functional behavior assessments, develop behavior plans, and design individualized supports for students.
  • Tier 3: Conduct comprehensive special education evaluations and use results to develop goals for specially designed instruction, as well as supplementary aids in Individual Education Plans.
  • Tier 3: Consult with staff and support students in categorical programs for Autism Spectrum Disorder and cognitive impairment.

Qualifications:

  • Full or preliminary certification as a School Psychologist by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Effective in communication and well-developed organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations for special education.
