Position Overview:
We are seeking a licensed and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide patient-centered behavioral health services within an outpatient, collaborative care setting. This role plays a key part in supporting our mission to integrate mental health and medical care for underserved communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals and those living with chronic conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for new and established patients.
- Diagnose mental health disorders and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, and care coordinators to ensure integrated treatment.
- Provide ongoing medication management and crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate electronic health records (EHR).
- Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
- Participate in case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry.
- Current and unrestricted PMHNP license in the State of Florida.
- DEA registration with the ability to prescribe controlled substances.
- A minimum of 1–2 years of psychiatric practice experience is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse and underserved populations is strongly preferred.
- Culturally competent and affirming of LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and HIV-positive individuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills, clinical judgment, and a teamwork mindset.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and integrated health models is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with LGBTQ+ mental health, HIV care, or substance use treatment
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Athena)
