Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor children to ensure that they play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner
- Ensure that children are safe and that their everyday needs are being met, including but not limited to, diapering, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc.
- Prepare and organize mealtimes and snacks for children
- Help children keep good hygiene
- Change diapers of infants and toddlers
- Facilitate nap times, when appropriate
- Organize activities and develop age-appropriate curriculum that allows children to learn about the world and explore their interests
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Ensure children are kept active, entertained, and engaged in development activities
- Assist children in learning to work together through a variety of interactive games and activities designed to encourage cooperation as well as assist in successfully resolving conflicts as they arise
- Model and encourage good social skills e.g., strong communication and conflict resolution
- Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring potential problems to the attention of parents and guardians
- Responsible for leading children in the cleanup of eating and play areas throughout the day
- Provide a nurturing environment to foster children’s healthy development
- Responsible for keeping records of children's progress, routines, interests and presence in the facility
- Responsible for cleaning interactive areas throughout the workday
- Maintain contact with children's parents/caregivers to report progress, issues, or emergencies
Skills/ Special Requirements:
- Must possess current California driver’s license or Identification Card.
- Must possess or obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in allotted timeframe.
- Must have sensitivity to and ability to embrace individuals of different genders, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, physical abilities and those with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, staff, and parents/guardians.
- Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
- Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time
- Ability to anticipate and address potential interactions or issues between children
- TB test to be conducted yearly or be verified by a physician
- 1 year of verified sobriety if applicable
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
