Coconino County Education Service Agency (CCESA) is seeking a LCSW or Certified School Counselor to be a full-time employee with the CCESA to provide county schools with mental health services. The counselor will evaluate students' and educators' problems and provide individual and group counseling services to assist individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment to support school success.
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the administration and psycho-educational services provided to all students; performs related work as assigned.
Note: this is a temporary position, ending June 30, 2026. Funding for this position is contingent on Fee for Service requests from schools for psychological services.
Typical Duties

- Functioning as a school counselor to counsel with students in individual or group settings in assigned schools based on treatment plan goals
- Implementing related service counseling per eligible special education students' Individualized Education Plans
- Contributing expertise in emotional and behavior change to the special education team, identifying and evaluating students with disabilities and special needs
- Evaluating students to determine need for counseling services through the use of case history, interview, and observation
- Developing treatment plans for targeted behavior change
- Participates in conferences with school staff members and parents relative to findings and their interpretation.
- Attendance at MET/I.E.P. conferences and make appropriate recommendations
- Complies with all IDEA regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes §§ 15-765-767
- Responsible for project management and grant reporting
- Assists team leaders to conduct research and oversee evaluation activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program; appropriate licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners to perform required duties.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must obtain an Arizona's Driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final Job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona motor-vehicle report. Must obtain a fingerprint clearance card.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:LMSW;five years of experience counseling children or adults; experience and skill in coaching; successful experience as a school counselor.
The Ideal Candidate will be detail oriented, have strong communication skills; is a team player; has IEP experience; and school experience.
This position is exempt from overtime.
Note: Individuals in exempt classifications as part time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements.

Considerable knowledge of:
- Principles and practices and techniques involved in providing professional counseling Psychotherapy, group, and individual casework
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes and ordinances
- Current Evidence Based Best Practices and concepts of Substance Abuse Treatment
- Community service organizations and agencies
- Interviewing techniques, intervention strategies, and after care services
- Working with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds
- Computers and software to prepare reports
- Evaluate and document inmate progress toward treatment goals
- Work well with a team, as well as independently
- Provide group treatment and individual counseling using Matrix Model
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
