JOB TITLE
Mental Health Social Worker
The employer provides supervised hours and continuing education for associate-licensed employees.
OUR CLIENT
A highly regarded non-profit organization operating a state-licensed residential facility for up to 136 adults with mental disabilities, ages 18-59, located in Boyle Heights. The program offers a structured residence and Outpatient Clinic with intensive mental health supportive services to prepare and empower clients to develop independent skills, improve current levels of functioning, and successfully reintegrate into community living.
The organization employs a dynamic team of approximately 45 multidisciplinary staff (e.g., Paraprofessionals, Master's level/licensed therapists, Case Aides, Medication Technicians, etc.) seven days per week. The team monitors care and provides case management services, mental health services, including classes in independent living skills and socialization, individual and group therapy sessions, assistance with vocational and education plans, and medication support services.
Mental Health Social Worker
The responsibilities of the position include providing individual and group therapy, as well as case management services to an adult residential population.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Clinical treatment of both acute and chronic mentally ill populations.
  • Crisis intervention experience.
  • Experience with family therapy.
  • Treatment and discharge planning.
  • Working knowledge of community resources.
  • Experience preparing written client evaluations.
  • Bilingual Spanish or ASL preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related area from an accredited university.
  • Valid CA BBS registration.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of mental status examinations and the current diagnostic manual.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric mental health theories and practices.
  • Individual and group treatment with clients who present a variety of psychopathologies.
  • Ability to function as a primary therapist and member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Accurate observation and documentation of treatment sessions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of human relationships.
  • Effective communication with visitors, police, and community members.
  • Accurate assessment of client statements and behaviors for evidence of antisocial behavior.
  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective communication in Spanish, both verbally and in writing.
COMPENSATION
$29.98/hr - $30.01/hr (non-bilingual)
$31.01/hr (bilingual Spanish)
Additional DMH compensation, up to $1,250/month.
Supervised Hours & Continuing Education
Employer provides supervised hours and continuing education for associate-licensed employees.
Schedule
Monday - Friday
8am - 4:30pm, 8:30am - 5:00pm, or 9:00am - 5:30pm

* Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
**Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by onboarding. Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).
