Position Summary
The junior counselor will be assigned to helping specific students each day, as directed. The Junior Counselor will work closely with the Counselors and Head Counselor to make sure the needs of the students are being met. Junior counselors must be able to take direction and assist students with tasks they are being asked to complete. The junior counselor will be responsible for helping his/her camp buddy and actively participating in the activities being completed each day. This position reports to the Director of Student Services.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
2. Demonstrated professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students.
3. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing demands and learning environments.
4. Ability to attend all ESY events/scheduled days.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to support individuals with learning deficits.
2. Present as being flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
3. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
4. Working knowledge of computers and related instructional technology devices.
5. Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures with respect to student safety, security, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
2. Assist Counselor with the administration of curriculum for program instruction by providing direct one-on-one support to assigned student(s).
3. Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment by assisting the Coordinator with varied needs.
4. Communicate effectively with Head Counselor or Counselors regarding student progress, delivery of instruction, and behavioral issues.
5. Work cooperatively with students, colleagues, and administration.
6. Demonstrate positive school-community relations.
7. Comply with state laws, school board policies, and administrative regulations.
8. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information regarding students.
9. Perform related duties consistent with job description and assignment.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

The physical demands, work environment factors, and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Low exposure to self to bruises and cuts due to typical office environment.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions. The employee may be required to travel between District facilities using personal transportation. The employee may be required to work non-traditional hours based on District needs.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and use interpersonal skills. The employee is frequently required to compare, copy, coordinate, instruct and negotiate. The employee is occasionally required to evaluate, analyze, compute, compile and synthesize.
Cognitive Ability: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders (administration, teachers, parents, students, vendors, etc.). The employee must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, exercise good judgment and make decisions.

- $10.00 - students age 14 to 18 (will not turn 18 at any time during the employment period)
- $13.34 - students requiring clearances (18+ years of age or who will turn 18 at any time during the employment period)
