Position Summary:
The Mental Health Counselor will provide direct support, case management, and psychoeducational services to clients under the supervision of a licensed clinician. This position plays a critical role in promoting mental wellness, supporting treatment goals, and creating a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group support sessions to clients based on their treatment plans
- Conduct screenings, assessments, and client intakes under supervision
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to monitor and document client progress
- Assist in crisis intervention and safety planning
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups on topics such as coping skills, emotional regulation, and life skills
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with agency and state guidelines
- Advocate for client needs while encouraging self-efficacy and empowerment
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
- Previous experience in a mental health, social service, or related setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassionate, nonjudgmental, and professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Reliable transportation and ability to pass background checks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or crisis de-escalation techniques
- Experience working in residential, outpatient, or substance use settings
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
