ALS United Rhode Island is the only non-profit organization in RI dedicated solely to the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. They provide comprehensive patient services and support to ALS patients, families, and caregivers every step of the way.

Role Description

This is a part-time virtual or on-site role for a Volunteer - Social Worker located in Warwick, RI. The Volunteer - Social Worker will be responsible for providing training, and support to ALS patients and their families, and guidance for creating a new program to support families. They will assist in implementing the new program and work closely with the ALS community.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Empathy and compassion towards patients and families
• Ability to provide counseling and emotional support
• Experience in social work or a related field
• Knowledge of ALS and its impact (not required)
• Ability to work collaboratively and in a team setting
• Volunteer or work experience in a healthcare setting is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
