Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions:
- As a member of interdisciplinary mental health treatment team, responsible for assigned mental health/ substance abuse interventions for a caseload of mentally ill inmates: completes detailed screens, mental health evaluations & crisis services inclusive of suicide watch assessments within their scope of practice; provides clinical direction to tower level workers; may serve as treatment team coordinator; conducts advanced practice individual & group clinical interventions as prescribed on the individual mental health treatment plan, using clinical intervention strategies within their scope of practice & directed by supervisor; provides clinical case management services to an assigned caseload, including the monitoring of the offender compliance with the mental health treatment plan.
- Completes psychosocial needs & treatment assessments as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning; completes transfer & discharge summaries; consults with other institution staff regarding the mental health caseload, inmates' institutional adjustment & service needs.
- Initiates & maintains contact with families & community agencies; provides & seeks information relative to patient care & treatment; makes appropriate community and re-reentry referrals, per mental health treatment team.
- Writes reports or documentation to include documentation of all inmate contacts, clinical case management progress note entries, discharge plans & miscellaneous forms & reports as needed per policy & protocol.
- Attends meetings with supervision; performs other duties as assigned, attends in-service training sessions & workshops for professional development; participates in peer review as assigned; must conduct themselves professionally, & in a law-abiding manner, at all times & in accordance with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction Standards of Employee Conduct.
Required skills:
- Knowledge of (1 1 a) public relations: assigned responsibility for establishing & sustaining beneficial business relationships or establishing & projecting acceptable public image, (1 1b) human relations, '(13b) agency policies & procedures (Mental Health), (14) government structure & process (Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board, Ohio.
- Department of Mental Health, (15) counseling, (16) interviewing, (21) social sciences (sociology, psychology); Skill in (25b) word processing (Microsoft Office), (29) equipment operation
- (person at computer, copier, fax, printer); Ability to (30r) deal with many variables & determine specific action, (31h) use statistical analysis, (32r) prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports, (33e) gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things, (34h) develop good rapport with inmates &lor patients.

- Knowledge of (8a) employee training development, (1 la), 13b; Ability to (30a) carry out simple instructions.
Minimum Qualifications For Employment:
- Must be a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board. OR
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
- Must have an LISW or LPCC Ohio License.
