Job Description:

Founded in 1979, The Chicago School is an independent, not-for-profit, professional graduate school with a dynamic student body and a professionally accomplished faculty. Our curriculum and training opportunities prepare graduates to deliver outstanding professional services emphasizing the ability to understand and work with diverse populations. This position is on ground on the Dallas campus located in Richardson, Texas.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Psychology department is seeking highly qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions at our Dallas Campus to teach in our Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program. Our faculty members typify a scholar-practitioner model of education to teach doctoral-level psychology courses and integrate technology into classroom instruction.

Principal Duties:

The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty members is to teach courses by sharing theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject, and when applicable, encouraging direct application to the workplace within the field of clinical psychology.

All adjunct faculty members at The Chicago School at the Dallas campus are expected to be available and responsive to students during the course. This “availability” includes:

  • Active participation in the discussion forum;

  • Timely grading of assignments and providing quality feedback;

  • Being available outside of regular class meetings to address student’s questions and concerns

Adjuncts will be provided course syllabi with recommended course texts prior to beginning the teaching assignment. Modifications of syllabi are possible with approval of the Department Chair.

Position Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, statistics, or experimental psychology depending on the course taught.

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Neuropsychology, diversity, social psychology, cognitive psychology, cognitive therapy, and behavioral therapy. Expertise in Neuropsychology preferred.

  • Graduate of an APA accredited doctoral program (if degree is in clinical psychology).

  • Certain courses require licensure as a psychologist.

  • Previous teaching experience (3 years preferred).

  • Exemplary professional experience.

  • Engagement in research and scholarship (preferred).

  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, research, community service, and diversity.

The Dallas campus is located in Richardson, TX. We are committed to and welcome diversity in both our faculty and student body. We value social justice in scholarship and practice and helping students appreciate the role that psychologists can play as being the agents for social change. Review of applications will begin immediately.

The department seeks an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student-centeredness, professional development and scholarship, integrity and ethics, respect for diversity and pluralism, innovation, flexibility, and teamwork and collaboration. Candidates who will advance equity, diversity, and inclusion through their teaching, scholarship, and service are strongly encouraged to apply.
