Shakti Therapy & Healing Services is a culturally centered, trauma-informed mental health practice based in Los Angeles. We blend Eastern wisdom with modern science, offering somatic therapy, IFS, and psychedelic integration including ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). We are expanding our team to include a skilled psychiatric nurse practitioner to support clients with psychiatric assessments, medication management, and ketamine prescribing/oversight.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a compassionate, clinically autonomous Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide direct psychiatric care for our adult clients. You will conduct psych evaluations, manage medications, and oversee medical appropriateness for ketamine treatment, while working in alignment with our therapy team.

This is a 1099 contractor position. You will be compensated per session and manage your own clinical decisions. Shakti will provide clients, supportive collaboration with our therapists, and intake/EMR support.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Evaluate medical appropriateness for ketamine treatment (including intake & follow-up)
• Collaborate with therapists to support client progress (non-clinical consultation)
• Maintain timely documentation in our HIPAA-compliant EHR
• Operate independently while respecting Shakti’s integrative, trauma-informed approach
• Stay current with best practices in psychiatric nursing and mental health care.

Requirements

• Active California NP and RN license
• DEA registration with Schedule III authority (for ketamine)
• Authorized to practice under own supervising physician or eligible as 103-NP (autonomous NP)
• Strong experience with trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, or culturally responsive care
• Experience with ketamine, psychedelic-assisted therapy, or interest in integrative psychiatry a plus
• Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry or Mental Health.
• Current certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and behavioral health practices.
• Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.

Compensation & Structure

• $80 - 100 per completed client session
• You will operate as a 1099 independent contractor
• Flexible hours with in-person and virtual sessions
