Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of the Child Protection Program interdisciplinary team.
  • Serves as a clinical consultant for child abuse and maltreatment for cases in pediatrics and other areas as requested.
  • Establishes and maintains professional social work standards of performance concerning interview techniques and methods and practices used in preparing clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and in documenting case histories. Will receive training in and conduct forensic interviews in cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment.
  • Interprets clinical information based on case data, histories, statistic, etc. and prepares and submits comprehensive reports of case findings, including chronologies of medical data and social factors necessary to support recommended course of actions.
  • Assists the hospital's CPC in planning, developing, and conducting hospital wide training programs for various disciplines on the identification, treatment and referral of suspected child abuse and maltreatment.
  • Coordinates closely with the hospital's CPC who tracks State Central Registrar (SCR) reports generated by hospital staff and serves as a consultant regarding the management of cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment.
  • Available to provide consultation to hospital staff and leadership regarding the reporting, case management and treatment of cases of child abuse and maltreatment as requested.
  • In collaboration with the CPC, will develop and coordinate child protection services in the hospital and participate in the review, revision and dissemination of policies and procedures relevant to the hospital's response to child abuse and maltreatment cases.
  • Conducts individual/family conferences and group discussions in regards to child protection and child advocacy.
  • Supervises case managers, Care Coordinators and other assigned staff, screens and assigns cases, schedule staff, reads and reviews staff work, and evaluate staff performances.
  • Establishes and maintains professional social work standards of performance concerning interview techniques and methods and practices used in preparing clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and in documenting histories.
  • Interpret clinical information based on case data, histories, and statistics. Prepares and submits comprehensive reports of case findings.
  • Assist patients with relevant applications and other paperwork for benefits and other support services.
  • Promotes patient/family education and harm reduction to increase safety and decrease risks.
  • Investigates patients' non-adherence to therapy and makes appropriate recommendation to the program.
  • Monitors and coordinates case management services provided to patients by Community Based Organizations (CBOs).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED and one (1) year of supervisory experience utilizing casework, group work and/or community organization methodologies.
