Village Community School seeks to hire a School Psychologist for Grades K-4.
This is a full-time position, beginning on August 18, 2025.
Salary Range: $110,000-$155,000

Role Description: The School Psychologist reports to the Assistant Head of School and collaborates closely with school leaders, instructional faculty, and families to support the cognitive, social and emotional growth of VCS students. As a member of the Guidance Team, this individual will develop strategies, provide guidance, make referrals, lead professional development for staff, and host parent education workshops.
Key Responsibilities
License: NYS Certification required
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a school setting

Key Responsibilities
- Foster a positive school climate that supports social-emotional health.
- Collaborate on the design and implementation of an integrated SEL curriculum.
- Conduct classroom observations, provide feedback on student social-emotional behavior, and recommend classroom-wide positive behavioral supports.
- Maintain detailed observational notes and assessment records.
- Organize, document, and track classroom-based and individualized student interventions and accommodations.
- Review and interpret educational and psychological evaluations; administer in-house assessments as needed.
- Meet with students on a short-term basis as needed and provide crisis prevention and intervention services.
- Consult and collaborate regularly with the Guidance Team to refer and coordinate service provider accommodations.
- Deliver culturally responsive support to students and families.
- Serve as a resource for parents seeking strategies to support their children’s development.
- Demonstrate the capacity to team-build, lead, and empower others.
- Aligned with Village Community School’s mission and diversity statements.
- Proficiency in solution-focused, problem-solving counseling techniques to support students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership experience in implementing school-wide initiatives and programs.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth, cultural competency, and self-reflective practice.
