About Job

Overview
Sayegh Pediatric Therapy Services is seeking a a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team across our Catholic School network and cyber (online) learning environments. The ideal candidate is mission-driven, empathetic and supportive to the emotional, academic and spiritual development of our students. The unique role requires flexibility to address the needs of our students in person and online. . This position requires a strong understanding of childhood development, mental health counseling, and behavior management strategies. The School Counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community resources to create a nurturing environment that fosters student growth and well-being.

Duties

  • Support students in developing coping strategies, resilience and problem solving skills.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support positive student behavior in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress.
  • Advocate for child welfare by connecting families with community resources and support services.
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars on mental health awareness and childhood development for parents and staff.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field is required.
  • Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
  • Experience in classroom settings or special education is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health counseling techniques and child welfare policies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors while fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Familiarity with Christian counseling principles is a plus.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of school counseling.
