Responsibilities:
Lead the Charge: Facilitate engaging weekly individual counseling sessions and dynamic skills-based psychoeducational group sessions that inspire and empower our young clients.

Be the Rock:
Provide a stable and consistent presence in our therapeutic environment, working hand-in-hand with Care Coordinators to manage clients and set positive limits.

Track Progress:
Evaluate reflective assignments and cheer on clients as they advance through our stage system based on their personal growth.

Plan Fun Activities:
Organize exciting experiential and recreational activities that align with earned privileges, making the journey through our stage system enjoyable!

Collaborate & Create:
Work closely with the treatment team to develop meaningful treatment goals and coordinate services, using insights from intake assessments and regular reviews.

Crisis Hero:
Conduct risk and crisis assessments, stepping in with your crisis intervention skills when needed to keep our clients safe and supported.

Educate & Empower:
Share your knowledge by providing substance use education to clients, families, and the community—because knowledge is power!

Document with Flair:
Complete all required documentation (think assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries) in a timely manner, keeping everything organized and up to standard.

Team Player:
Attend weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision sessions, contributing your ideas and insights to the mix.

Action Plans:
Distribute weekly action plans for each client to the staff, ensuring everyone is on the same page and ready to support our clients’ journeys.

Represent Us:
Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences, showcasing the amazing work we do at Newport Healthcare.

Flexibility:
Note that responsibilities may vary slightly for outpatient facilities, keeping things fresh and exciting!

Other Fun Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned to help our mission shine even brighter!
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred.
  • Credentialing as a mental health or substance abuse counselor (e.g., CDP, CAC, CADC, RAD, SUDC) is preferred; willingness to pursue state certification is required.
  • For positions in detox centers, specific substance abuse credentials (e.g., CAC, CADC, RADT, SUDC) are required.
  • Preference for candidates who are board registered (e.g., APCC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT, MHCA, LMHC) with a credentialing agency in the state of service.
  • Experience in individual and/or group therapy with young adults and adolescents is required.
  • Preferred experience in mental health, substance abuse, or trauma-informed treatment.
  • Additional state or position-specific requirements will be outlined in the offer letter.

Compensation for this role ranges from $28.58- $34.54 per hour depending on education and experience.
