Located in Foster City, Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students, and welcoming our families. Wornick Day School is seeking a part-time (16-24 hours per week) school counselor to join our professional team and significantly impact the academic, social, emotional, and cultural well being of our students, professionals, and families.

 

The School Counselor will:

  • Serve on our Student Support Team to create strategies, support plans, and systems for students who are experiencing social, emotional, and learning challenges.
  • Liaison with outside service providers while coordinating and implementing support plans at our school.
  • Meet with students for in school sessions as needed
  • Guide teachers and administrators in supporting students emotional needs
  • Support and create social emotional programs for students in concert with grade level teachers and administrators
  • Provide training to teachers in supporting students
  • Be available for contact with parents, students, and staff as needed
  • Support students when they need breaks from class. Create systems to support emotional regulation for students when classes become challenging for individual students.
  • Advise and inform discipline policies and classroom management strategies

 

A successful candidate will have:

  •  A Masters Degree in School Counseling, MFT, MSW or related degree
  • Our school will consider applicants who are still working towards their credentials
  • 3+ years working with children in a school setting (ideally, not required)
  • Experience providing counseling support in a student centered environment
  • Experience liaising with other service providers
  • Experience speaking with parents, students, and teachers about sensitive issues
  • Prior knowledge and experience with Jewish communities a plus but not required

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary for this position is determined by years of experience and credentials. Our expected range for this position, based on 40-60% FTE, is $32,000-$63,000.
