The Swamp School, a premier provider of high-quality education in wetland science, water management, and environmental permitting, is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Student Counselor and Alumni Outreach Coordinator. In this on-site role, you’ll work directly under the guidance of a Senior Student Counselor, learning the ropes while playing an essential role in helping students and alumni thrive.

About the Role
You’ll help new students enroll in and navigate our industry-leading courses—covering topics such as:
- Wetland Delineation and Jurisdictional Determination
- Stormwater and Stream Restoration
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
- Macroinvertebrate Sampling and Water Quality Monitoring
- USACE Permitting and Modeling Tools (e.g., WetBud, SDAM)
At the same time, you’ll help foster lifelong engagement with Swamp School graduates working in conservation, consulting, and environmental policy across the U.S.
This role provides valuable exposure to the environmental field while helping build your skills in education, outreach,
and ecological science.
Key Responsibilities
Student Counseling (under supervision of Senior Counselor)
- Welcome and onboard new students into our technical training programs.
- Guide students in choosing appropriate courses based on their professional goals.
- Support student questions about content, software use, and progress tracking.
- Conduct proactive check-ins to ensure engagement and satisfaction.
Alumni Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with alumni.
- Organize and manage newsletters, surveys, and networking events.
- Collect and share alumni success stories.
- Keep alumni updated about new programs and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing preferred.
- A background in environmental science, ecology, or biology is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Willing to learn platforms like learning management systems (LMS), email tools, and CRM systems (experience with Keap is a plus).
- Genuine interest in wetland science, environmental education, and student success.
