Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Music Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will utilize music therapy techniques to provide therapeutic services to patients in an outpatient setting, focusing on enhancing their emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. This role involves working with individuals with various needs, including those with disabilities and those undergoing addiction counseling. The Music Therapist will be responsible for developing personalized treatment plans and facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs of patients and develop individualized music therapy treatment plans.
- Implement music therapy interventions that promote healing, emotional expression, and personal growth.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions using music as a tool for communication and connection among participants.
- Provide individual counseling sessions that incorporate music therapy techniques tailored to each patient’s unique circumstances.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and support.
- Engage in recreational therapy activities that integrate music to enhance the overall therapeutic experience for patients.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC) is required.
- Experience in outpatient settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with addiction counseling practices is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities and diverse backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage patients in therapeutic activities effectively.
