- Counsels students on their academic, personal, and social development, mediates issues,
- Coordinates student academic and behavioral plans, implements necessary schedule changes for students throughout the year,
- Facilitates grade level student focused meetings, arranges and conducts parent/teacher staffing's/conferences,
- Identifies and monitors behavioral/emotional/academic needs of students,
- Provides individual and group sessions to assist with academic, emotional, social and personal issues relating to students, develops and
- Implements SEL curriculum for social, emotional and cognitive development, including leading lessons and PD focused on social skills and other SEL topics
- Provides individual, developmental, preventative, remedial, short term and/or crisis counseling,
- Identifies community and school resources, maintains lists and makes referrals as necessary, identifies and develops plan for transition of all students at end of year,
- Interfaces with the admissions department in interviewing new students, arranges for placement tests, proper scheduling and coordinating their orientation to school,
- Supervision of students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
- Must have at least five years of experience working in a similar School Counselor capacity with children, ideally in grades K-12.
- Must have excellent communication and listening skills along with organizational, computer, and multitasking proficiency.
- Ability to effectively work in sensitive and confidential situations required.
- Master's degree and Florida certification in a related field preferred.
