Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate supportive services for student and families to address school concerns.
Establish community connections to benefit staff, students and parents.
Provide a variety of professional social work services to students and their families.
Provide guidance and consultation regarding social work related matters.
Identify and assess sources of academic problems, including factors in the school environment, the home setting and the community which interfere with school success.
Function as a liaison between the family and the school regarding the child's educational needs and social-emotional progress. May require conducting home visits and limited travel in school communities.
Determines and implements appropriate intervention strategies with students and families.
Collaborates with school counselor, principal, school interdisciplinary team and/or other agencies in providing group counseling, educational workshops and parent training on topics such as parenting, child growth and development, etc.
Collaborates with school staff and other appropriate educational personnel in efforts to alleviate identified problems.
Assists in providing crisis intervention services.
Supplement staff development and consultative services on pertinent issues affecting students' learning and behavior.
Maintain records, files and associated paperwork accurately and timely.
Maintains confidentiality.
Requirements:
Valid WV driver's license.
BSW or LISW degree in Social Work and possession of valid Social Workers license.
Education, training and experience: graduation from accredited college or university in social work.
Minimum experience 3 years preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of social work in the school setting.
Knowledge, training, experience of public education practices and procedures.
Skill in providing social work services to students and their families.
Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with school staff, students, parents.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
