The City of Chandler Mayor and Council Office is a division of the Communications and Public Affairs Department. The Mayor and Council Office provides direct support to the Mayor, City Council, and City Departments including administrative, digital media, communications and public affairs functions. The division also coordinates citizens' requests for service, special event planning, event brief and talking point preparation, and oversees citizen community engagement programs, among other duties.Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone with knowledge of local government functions to accompany Mayor and Council at community events, strong writing skills that will assist in creating talking points and event briefs for Mayor and Council and a high level of political acumen to positively represent the city when out in the community.Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Public Relations, Public Administration, Communications or a related field
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, event planning and responding to resident/customer requests
- A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Experience working with elected or appointed officials
- Special events planning and management experience
