About Job

Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) provides support for individuals who have an adult family member with mental illness. Caring for someone who has a mental illness may be physically and emotionally stressful, stigmatizing, and isolating. IFSS provides supportive counseling, family support groups, psychoeducational workshops, advocacy and linkage on behalf of family members.Preferred Qualifications:
  • MA or MSW preferred.
  • LSW, LCSW, LAC or LPC preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience with families, groups or individuals in a mental health setting
  • BA may be considered with requisite experience
  • Ability to have a genuine regard for families of persons with mental illness, who have not caused their relative's illness, who have valuable insights and who can have a strong positive influence of their ill member's recovery.
The PT Family Support Counselor will:
  • With an understanding of family dynamics and family systems theory, implements intake and assessments of each family’s strengths and coping abilities.
  • Engage families into therapeutic relationships offering supportive counseling in the office, virtual, home or at a designated community setting.
  • Co-facilitate ongoing family support groups as well as designs and facilitates short term specialized family support groups; i.e. Sibling Support or Support For Children of Parents With Mental Illness, etc.
  • Design, and co-facilitate psycho-educational sessions for families and for the community, providing them with needed information on mental health.
  • Provide families with supportive telephone counseling and consultation
  • Collaborates and consult with other treatment providers on behalf of the family’s needs
  • Design and provide family respite services to help reduce caregiver stress
  • Handle telephone and walk-in requests for Information and Referrals
  • Comply with all mandated documentation and In-Service trainings
  • Participate in at least one agency-wide committee i.e. Performance Improvement, Cultural Competency, etc.
  • Expedite all steps to become eligible to provide graduate clinical supervision.
  • Process Statistical Reporting plus other duties as assigned by the Coordinator/Family Support Specialist
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Clinical Services
Hourly Base Range: $35 - $40Reports to: Coordinator / Family Support SpecialistFully paid medical coverage for eligible staff.
