Job Title: Clinical Counselor - Children (CNIC)

Serve as a Clinical Counselor for children within Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Family Readiness Division (N91), Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) (N914). The primary purpose of the position is to assess and counsel children in families referred to the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).

Qualifications:

  1. A Master's degree or doctorate in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution in the US.
  2. Current and valid state clinical license permitting independent practice, fully meeting Tier II or Tier III SECNAVINST 1754.8 requirements, and maintained through ongoing continuing education credits/units.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of the military lifestyle's demands, including frequent separations and high-stress environments.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive and controversial information clearly and concisely to groups.
  • Knowledge of family violence dynamics, risk assessment, and safety planning.
  • Skill in interviewing and responding to client needs, including assessing risks related to suicide, homicide, and substance abuse.
  • Proficiency in developing case management documentation, safety plans, assessments, treatment plans, and reports in writing.
  • Competence in using computers and software for multimedia presentations and work facilitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with management, staff, community agencies, military personnel, and families.
