About Job

We are seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to join our team in the South Dallas / Fair Park area. This role is vital in providing skills training, case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy, ensuring that individuals and families have the tools they need to thrive in their communities.


As a QMHP, you will work directly with children, youth, and young adults to build life skills, regulate emotions, and connect with essential resources. You will collaborate with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure that every client has the support needed to achieve their personal goals. Your role will involve community-based outreach and services, with flexibility in scheduling to meet clients where they are—at home, in schools, or within their communities.


Core Responsibilities:


Skill-Building & Emotional Regulation

  • Teach coping strategies for stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation.
  • Provide anger management techniques and alternatives to aggression.
  • Assist with goal-setting, life skills, and independent living strategies.


Crisis Intervention & De-escalation

  • Provide immediate support during mental health crises.
  • Implement de-escalation and suicide intervention strategies.


Case Management & Resource Navigation

  • Help families schedule medical, dental, and mental health appointments.
  • Connect clients to essential resources like food, housing, and financial aid.
  • Advocate for school accommodations (IEP/504) and attend ARD meetings.


Advocacy & Mentorship

  • Serve as a liaison between families, schools, and community organizations.
  • Guide clients in education, career planning, and personal development.
  • Provide mentorship and life coaching for long-term success.


Medication & Treatment Support

  • Educate clients on medication adherence and side effects (under clinician oversight).
  • Collaborate with clinical teams on individualized treatment plans.
  • Monitor progress and update treatment goals.


Community Outreach & Referral Development

  • Build partnerships with schools, juvenile justice programs, and child services.
  • Attend community events and meetings to promote services.
  • Work with law enforcement and social services to identify families in need.
  • Educate and connect the community to mental health resources.
  • Proactively network to reach families needing support.


Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field (Required).
  • At least 2 years of prior experience in behavioral health, case management, or social services (Required).
  • Completes and attests to completion of all mandatory trainings as identified in HHSC UMCM chapter 15.3.


Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Cultural competence in working with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with youth and families in a community setting.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid documentation and service billing (Preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and electronic health records (EHR).

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License & Reliable Transportation
  • Proof of auto insurance & clean driving record
  • Cleared criminal background check & TB test (within the past 12 months)
  • Cleared pre-employment drug screening
  • Three (3) professional references
  • Bilingual preferred


Work Environment & Schedule

  • At a full caseload (estimated 12 to 15 clients), expect 30-40hrs/week
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate client needs (some evenings & weekends required).
  • Environment: Primarily community-based, with a portion of office-based work.
