Overview
At the Larimer County Department of Human Services, we work alongside our community to provide timely resources that help individuals and families stay healthy, supported, and safe. We’re looking for a motivated, innovative, and inclusive team member to join our Benefits and Community Support (BCS) Division as a Senior Community Support Specialist.
In this role, you’ll coordinate benefits, determine eligibility for public assistance programs, and provide referrals to connect applicants and recipients with additional resources. As a lead worker, you’ll also assist Community Support Specialists by reviewing their work, clarifying rules, and ensuring accurate eligibility determinations. This position is part of our mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Supplemental Information
The typical schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm This is a hybrid position and will require at least one day/week in the office. You must have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
In-office work will be located at one of the following three locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO

Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:
- Working under general supervision from a professional-level supervisor.
- Providing indirect supervision and lead accountability for staff, including scheduling, training, and reviewing work.
- Acting as a program expert, offering technical guidance to less experienced staff.
- Reviewing applicant and recipient information to determine eligibility for assistance programs.
- Assisting applicants in completing forms, gathering documents, and understanding program requirements and benefits.
- Approving or denying applications based on state statutes and notifying applicants of decisions and appeal procedures.
- Managing a caseload of complex and sensitive clients, maintaining confidentiality.
- Updating case/client information and reviewing reports to ensure ongoing eligibility.
- Collaborating on rotating tasks, special projects, and assignments requiring advanced program knowledge.

- Two (2) years experience in a directly related field, including one (1) year of experience equivalent to that of a Community Support Specialist II or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities in a human services program required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
