The Mental Health Counselor also known as Other Licensed Practitioner is a non-physician licensed behavioral health practitioner able to practice independently, who must perform services within the practitioner’s scope of practice. The services provided are expected to more effectively engage children, youth and families/caregivers who may have difficulty engaging in traditional clinic-based settings. The clinical services provided are intended to help prevent the progression of behavioral health needs through early identification and intervention and may be provided to children/youth in need of assessment for whom behavioral health conditions have not yet been diagnosed, including but not limited to children ages 0-5.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Psychologist, or a Psychiatrist, will sign off on an LMSW’s paperwork as needed. Responsibility will include providing a mental health diagnosis for child/youth. Provide services with the intension to treat, correct, or ameliorate a delay or problem in developmental functioning and healthy relationships for children/youth.
NYS Licenses: Licensed Psychoanalysts or Licensed psychologists. Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. Licensed Mental Health Counselors. Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with children in foster care and/ or Children’s Mental Health Program, children with behavioral health needs. Positions in Lower Hudson Valley required a valid, non-restricted Driver License
