K-5 Social Worker
Brooklyn RISE Charter School is a public charter elementary school that opened in Brooklyn in 2019. We are building our founding team of humble educators who embody our vision, and our mission: t o build the knowledge, habits, and mindsets for academic success, ensuring all kindergarten through fifth grade students are on the path to college. We will grow one grade each year until we reach our goal of being fully grown as a Kindergarten to 5th Grade.
We are seeking a passionate social worker dedicated to trauma-informed and restorative-based practices to act as our school Social Worker for kindergarten through second grade.
Summary
The Social Worker is a full-time position responsible for providing counseling services to any and all students who are referred to them. The Social Worker will work collaboratively and proactively with the Director of Inclusive Learning and the Head of School to ensure that students' needs are being effectively met. The Social Worker will have a larger role within our community developing Family Workshops in collaboration with the Director of Inclusive Learning, and supporting faculty as needed. Additionally, the Social Worker will be responsible for the creation and management of support systems for students struggling with attendance. Compensation will be commensurate with background and experience.
Responsibilities
● Provide counseling services for students who have been referred to the Social Worker.
● Create and share restorative plans for how to support students socio-emotionally
● Develop bi-monthly family workshops in tandem with the Family Supports Coordinator, on a variety of topics.
● Work collaboratively with the Student Supports Coordinator to ensure that students with special needs and Multi Language Learners are being effectively served by the school programming.
Competencies & Qualifications
● Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
● Minimum 1 year of experience
● Strong belief in restorative justice and trauma-informed practices for supporting students
● Demonstrated ability to work well in a team, and collaborate with others, especially with families and community members.
● Demonstrated strengths in critical thinking, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Strong Preference for someone who is bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Mandarin/ Chinese.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
