Pay is $17/hr
This is a part time position, starting at 15-20 hours with the opportunity to increase hours. Peers make their own schedule and will require some travel to clients located near them. Majority of work is via telehealth.
This person will need to live within commuting distance of one of our offices - Bangor, Belfast or Yarmouth. They will need to come into the office for orientation and infrequent in person meetings.
A CIPSS (Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist) works as part of our BHH case management team, building mutual relationships with clients who choose to use the service. Peers use their own lived experiences to help others navigate similar struggles by offering a unique perspective that makes the support more authentic and relatable. Peers build connection through shared experiences, reflecting on worldview, and moving towards recovery. This work is done 1:1 or in group settings, in the office, at clients' residences, or in the local community. It involves travel or can be done via telehealth.
Preference is for candidates n with work experience in mental health agencies or substance use programs.
Educational qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Lived experience with mental health, substance use, or other behavioral challenges.
- Certifications: Already be a CIPSS or obtain provisional CIPSS certification within 6 months of date of hire.
- Experience working with a mental, behavioral health or substance use program
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills including active listening and the ability to engage with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish trust and rapport with individuals facing challenges.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer literacy – ability to perform documentation in EMR
