Our behavioral health hospital serves adolescents and adults suffering from mental illness, emotional problems and behavioral issues.
Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services is currently seeking an energetic and dynamic professional to join our team as a full time Therapist.
The Social Worker/Therapist provides social services and individual, family and group therapy and case management services on acute and residential units under direction of the respective Director of Clinical Services. Assigned cases may vary somewhat depending on experience and specialty areas.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Obtains and assesses social history information and report to the treatment team within program specific time frames.
- Initiates and completes new admissions process, discharge process, and aftercare planning.
- Provides and documents discharge planning as directed by the Psychiatrist from day of admission.
- Provides and promptly documents direct patient care through use of social work and/or counseling knowledge and skills.
- Maintains professional and clinical credentials consistent with duties
- Contributes to overall treatment team process by assisting in developing plans of care, formulating and reviewing plans and attending treatment team meetings and providing input as assigned.
- Conducts and documents individual, group, and family therapy as assigned and indicated.
- Acts as liaison for patients to various community agencies and resources.
- Functions as liaison and support for patient’s family during hospitalization.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Graduate from an approved college or university with a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing or closely related field.
- Current license or eligibility for license as a LGSW, LCSW, LSW, LPC, ALC, MSW, etc. in the State of Alabama required.
- Ability to establish rapport with a multiple disciplinary team and assist patient to work toward recovery and to sustain health.
- Experience and credentials for areas served and specialized interventions (adventure-based counseling, play therapy, or sexual offender/victim) highly desired.
- Experience on an in-patient psychiatric unit or residential program preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth and development of the population served.
- Therapist working with sexual behavior program must have certification in sexual behavior.
- New hires are required to attend an 8-day New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and Mon-Wed of the following week.
- Must successfully pass background check and drug screen.
