Position Summary

The Music Therapist will provide individual and group sessions to fulfill therapeutic objectives, including but not limited to: anxiety reduction, pain management, developmental stimulation, alternative means of expression/communication, positive coping techniques, procedural support, quality of life and family/patient support. The Music Therapist will be a member of the Child Life Department and complement one another's work in meeting the psychosocial and developmental needs of patients and families. The Music Therapist will also provide educational presentations to the staff, volunteers and community as needed.

  • Ability to function in an interdisciplinary work environment without direct supervision.
  • Must be Board Certified or certification in process.
  • NMT training or experience preferred and NICU-MT training or experience preferred.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy.
  • One-year paid experience as a Music Therapist preferred.
  • One year of prior music therapy work experience with children and families preferred.
  • Experience in program development preferred.
  • Ability to identify and receive referrals from hospital staff and to prioritize patients based on needs and schedules.
  • Ability to accurately assess developmental needs of patients/families and establish a plan of care.
  • Ability to document patient goals and objectives.
  • Ability to evaluate the impact of and progress of music therapy interventions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Highly proficient guitar and vocal skills.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Basic computer skills.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
