TITLE: Senior Family Social Worker

REPORTS TO: Women’s Coordinator

FLSA CODE: Full-time, 35 hours per week

SALARY: $65,000 - $78,000 annually

Description of Duties and Responsibilities.

 Provide regularly scheduled individual supervision to the Family Social Worker, Family Outreach Worker, and Family Peer Advocate.

 Assures that grant-funded family therapy, recovery coaching and motivational interviewing remain well integrated with in-kind services.

 Conducts individual assessments of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using the PTSD Checklist to gather pertinent diagnostic information in the areas of frequency, severity and intensity of PTSD symptoms and the impact of these symptoms on social and occupational functioning.

 Conducts Solution-Focused Brief Therapy for up to 15 families concurrently.

 Conducts 4 session Motivational Interviewing intervention with adult family members for up to 15 concurrent families. Assesses clients and families to determine need for network services.

 Develops Family Service Plan with client and families.

 Matches client and family needs with appropriate network service providers.

 Engages in collaborative service planning with network service providers.

 Prepares progress reports and communicates regularly with network service providers.

 Maintains documentation of clinical records in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and organizational standards.

 Participates in treatment planning case conferences as a member of the multidisciplinary team.

 Performs other duties as required.


Qualifications for Position
: Three years of direct service experience including group counseling, family therapy

and case management with chemically dependent women and their families, One year of supervisory experience in a

behavioral health or other human services setting, must hold a Masters level degree from an accredited school of

social work, licensed as an LMSW in New York State.


Skills and Knowledge Required
: Knowledge of continuum of care for substance abusing pregnant and post-partum

women and their families, Knowledge of local child welfare service delivery systems, Knowledge of issues of

culture and ethnicity which impact service delivery for African American and Puerto Rican women and families,

Skilled in assessing trauma and family functioning, Skilled in facilitating group counseling, Skilled in delivery of

family therapy, Good interpersonal skills, Fluent in Spanish or Creole preferred. Basic computer skills.


Amount of travel and any other special conditions or requirements:
Some local and out of state travel required,

valid NYS driver’s license strongly preferred.
