Our Paint department engages in a wide range of tasks, including preparing various works of art for painting through utilizing autobody type surface preparation methods on various types of metals; bronze, aluminum, fiberglass and steel. Whether working on scaffolds, ladders, or on the floor, we employ a variety of skill sets, with spraying paint and clear coats being just one part of the expertise we utilize in the creation of our artwork.


Technical Skills

  • Ability to mix and apply polyester body filler
  • Sand to sculpt and create form on a vast array of work including all shapes and sizes
  • Excellent surface preparation skills for aluminum, bronze, and fiberglass
  • Knowledge and ability to color, sand, and polish
  • General understanding of high-end finishes and artwork context
  • Able to consistently produce high-quality finishes
  • Prepare work throughout the painting process
  • May assist the Lead Painter in application of paint, primer, and clear-coats to various metals (bronze, aluminum, stainless)

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in body work, paint (i.e.: sculptural, automotive, etc.)
  • Understanding of different finishes in an artwork context to inform maintenance recommendations for outgoing works.
  • Exceptional eye for form and detail.
  • Strong work ethic and focus on delivery.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Appreciation for the art world.
  • Work within a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Careful handling of completed fragile works to crating/delivery teams.
  • Other metal finishing & fabrication experience a plus;
  • Excellent team player.
