THIS POSITION IS A PRN (OnCall) NOC shift: 11:30pm - 8:00AM - Friday Nights

Job Summary

The Admission Counselor Acute works directly with physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals around the bay area to screen candidates for admissions, perform insurance verifications, perform intake assessments, communicate directly with patients and their loved ones upon arrival to our facility.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate admissions and assessment processes for incoming patients.
  • Perform insurance benefit verifications, disseminating the information gathered to patient, their families, and appropriate internal staff.
  • Provide accurate and ongoing assessment of patient's status in the admission and utilization process.
  • Respond to inquiries about the facility within facility policy timeframes.
  • Schedule/complete pre-admission assessments and communicate recommendations to patients or their families.
  • Collaborate with other facility medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure appropriate recommendations and admissions.
  • Provide education to patient and their family throughout their stay.
  • Perform ongoing assessment of physical/functions, emotional, social, spiritual, and financial needs patients and implements crisis intervention and referral.
  • Provide accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status in the admissions process.
  • Communicate treatment recommendations to and coordinate with other treatment teams.

Other Functions

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services Required (if state allows)
  • Master's degree in Social Services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
  • One or more years' experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observations capacity preferred, preferably within the area of specialty for the hiring facility.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

  • Licensure, as required for the area of clinical specialty, i.e., RN license, CAC or other clinical counseling or therapy license, as designated by the state in which the facility operates.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at San Jose Behavioral Health varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, San Jose Behavioral Health provides a reasonable hourly range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California as set forth below:

SJBH Range = $29.00/hour - $45.00/hour - DOE

Additional hourly stipends apply for all PM/NOC shifts hours
