Responsibilities

Summary

Under supervision and as part of a team, the Counselor administers and scores standardized substance abuse screening and assessment instruments for participants entering the correctional system. An ASAM-based level of care is determined based on assessments. The role also involves providing various levels of substance abuse treatment aligned with the assessment results.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer, score, and interpret assessment tools such as the TCU Drug Screen and TAP.
  • Utilize other assessment tools to support ASAM placement decisions.
  • Conduct intake screenings, assessments, and post-testing during program participation.
  • Interview participants to gather additional data.
  • Review Division of Corrections files.
  • Score and interpret assessment results.
  • Prepare reports based on assessments.
  • Create and maintain individual treatment plans.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Maintain clinical charts per Maryland regulations (COMAR).
  • Complete discharge and aftercare planning.
  • Participate in team staffing meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree in Health and Human Services counseling field with an ADT designation, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields with CAC-AD certification.
  • Certified alcohol and drug counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
  • Preferred bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including evenings.
  • Professional interaction in individual and group counseling.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergencies.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer software.
  • Knowledge of APA standards for testing.
  • GEO Reentry Services LLC.



    Pay

    USD $30.00 to $33.00 per hour.



    Bonus (if applicable)

    $4,000.00
