About Job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one benefits counseling for programs including SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and Medicare.
  • Develop personalized benefits plans aligned with individual goals.
  • Educate individuals on Social Security work incentives (TWP, EPE, IRWE, PASS, EID).
  • Guide participants on how employment affects public benefits and healthcare coverage.
  • Collaborate with DORS counselors, vocational rehabilitation teams, and external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and prepare planning reports.
  • Connect individuals to community-based resources and support systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Certification as a Community Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC) or completion of the Benefits and Work Incentives Planning certification (Cornell University).
  • Completion of Maryland-specific benefits and systems training.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Social Security work incentives and benefits impact.
  • Ability to complete benefits analyses and explain outcomes clearly.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to participant empowerment and person-centered planning.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based with occasional off-site meetings.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 20 pounds.
  • Use of standard office equipment including PC, printer, copier, etc.
  • Must be able to hear, speak, and see with or without assistance.

This position is based on site in Belcamp/Aberdeen Maryland (Monday through Friday).
