Summary

Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at assigned campus. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of the Kingdom Collegiate Academy(KCA) student population by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

•Kingdom Collegiate Academy is an educational ministry of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. The work of teachers areconsidered a form of ministry as they are entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing students’ spiritual,academic, and personal development in accordance with Christian teachings.

•Guide individual students, groups of students, and parents to plan, monitor, and manage the student’s own educational and career development including creating and reviewing personal graduation plans and providinginformation about post-secondary opportunities.

•Use accepted biblio-centric and effective techniques of developmental guidance to counsel individual students,small groups of students, and parents to plan, monitor, and manage a student’s own personal and socialdevelopment.•Develop long-range and short-range plans for a complete guidance program for the students assigned based onthe needs and expectations of the populations to be served.

•Collaborate with campus administration on crisis management planning.•Provide guidance to students when social and academic adjustments are needed. Initiate constructivecommunication with parents regarding student’s academic achievement, behavior, and social development.•Coordinate school, home, and community resources and refer students, parent, and others to special programsand services as needed.

•Interpret standardized test results and assessment data to guide students in individual goal setting and planning.

•Plan, implement, evaluate, and promote continuous improvement of a balanced comprehensive developmentalguidance and counseling program that includes guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning,and system support components.

•Advocate for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity.•Review or supervise review of student transcripts for accuracy and correct course placement.•Maintain accurate information about graduation requirements, course offerings, and program options.•Communicate to students, parents and staff the opportunities and eligibility requirements related to Credit byExam, Dual Credit and PSAT.

•Assist students with application for postsecondary education including letters of recommendation as requested.•Assist in placement of students in special programs.•Provide individual and group counseling for students and consult with their parents concerning problems thatinterfere with learning.

•Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents.

•Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations

•Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for school counselors including current professionalstandards of competence and practice.

•Attend and participate in scheduled devotionals, in-service, committees, faculty, and parent meetings.

•Utilize the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, faculty and administration to bringabout resolve.

Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree in Educational Administration or Counseling from an accredited college/university and a minimum of three years related counseling experience, preferably in a Christian school. A valid Texas school counselor certificate required. The successful candidate must complete the Christian philosophy of education in-service. Specific training in Understanding by Design, Response to Intervention, or Differentiated Instruction preferred.
