Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team with Gardenia Services. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals navigating their recovery journey in the behavioral health field. The Certified Peer Specialist will utilize their lived experience and training to foster hope, promote wellness, and empower clients to achieve their personal goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health and addiction issues, along with the ability to connect with clients on a personal level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, offering guidance based on shared experiences.
  • Facilitate group sessions that encourage open dialogue and peer support.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for successful recovery.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to create individualized recovery plans.
  • Educate clients about available resources and support systems within the community.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients during challenging situations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Skills

  • Strong mentoring abilities to inspire and motivate clients in their recovery journey.
  • Proficient in crisis intervention techniques, ensuring client safety during emergencies.
  • Knowledge of social work systems and resources available for individuals with behavioral health challenges.
  • Understanding of behavioral health principles, including mental health counseling and addiction counseling.
  • Experience with crisis management strategies to effectively address urgent client needs.
  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement and commitment to change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Empathy and compassion for individuals facing mental health challenges, fostering a supportive environment.
