Candidates must be licensed or licensed-eligible with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed or Associate Clinical Social Worker, Licensed or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
Experience working in the field of substance abuse is a plus.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Mental Health Counselor works in conjunction with the Quality and Compliance Manager and AOD counselors to screen and assess clients’ initial and ongoing need for treatment. The Mental Health Counselor will also conduct mental health screenings, provide clinical support to alcohol and drug counselors on clients’ mental health issues, promote higher levels of wellness, stability and quality of life, assist in the prevention of acute psychiatric episodes or substance abuse relapses, and help clients to lessen the debilitating symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse.
The Mental Health Counselor will facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, refer clients to more intensive mental health services as needed, and maintain proper documentation.
Qualifications:
In addition to the above qualifications, you must have a Master's Degree, be free of formal parole and probation status for a minimum of one year, be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen, and have been vaccinated for COVID.
