Description:

For over 46 years, A Safe Place has been a beacon of hope in Lake County, empowering survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking to rebuild their lives. Join our mission to provide safety, foster independence, and create brighter futures.

As part of our team, you’ll transform lives daily—whether by directly supporting survivors or building the systems that sustain our work. Together, we create a resilient community where every survivor finds hope, safety, and the strength to thrive.

Your Role: Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager

As the Rapid Re-Housing Case Manager, you will secure transitional housing for survivors by developing landlord partnerships and supporting clients in maintaining stable housing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with landlords to secure subsidized rental housing.
  • Educate landlords on safety policies and survivor protections.
  • Conduct intake assessments, determine eligibility, and create individualized service plans.

  • Conduct home visits and ensure compliance with housing requirements.
  • Connect clients to employment, education, and financial assistance resources.
  • Provide legal advocacy, including assistance with Orders of Protection and victim compensation claims.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with grant funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to coordinate support services.
  • Commit to supporting survivors and fostering a violence-free society.
  • Engage clients authentically while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds

  • Work effectively as part of the team; collaborating effectively across the organization.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and team activities.
  • Perform other organizational and program-related duties as assigned.
  • Complete IM+CANS certification, 40-hour Domestic Violence, and other required training.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, education, or a closely related field
  • Bilingual Spanish fluency preferred
  • Familiarity with domestic violence dynamics and survivor challenges
  • Experience in housing placement, case management, or advocacy
  • Commitment to fostering a violence-free, collaborative society
  • Awareness of the unique challenges faced by diverse survivor populations
  • Strong trauma-informed communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Cultural competence and allyship for LGBTQIA and BIPOC DV survivors
  • Ability to engage and motivate clients toward housing stability.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance
Requirements:
  • Monday–Friday schedule based in Round Lake Beach, IL (Lake County travel required)
  • Agency Office Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Professional office settings and secure shelters.
  • 70% direct service commitment.
  • Active participation in 70% of staff meetings.
  • Commitment to 2–4-hour shifts for holiday shelter coverage, as needed.
  • Occasional lifting to 20 pounds, navigating stairs, or moving across facilities. Reasonable accommodation will be provided as needed.
