Our team currently consists of 6 Psychologists, 3 Neuropsychologists, 2 Developmental-Behavioral Psychologists, and an excellent clinical support team.

Atrium Health is excited to announce a new Pediatric Psychologist position. This is a full-time Pediatric Psychology non-tenure track faculty position. Levine Children’s Hospital has a rapidly growing psychology program that offers assessment, consultation, and therapy services in both inpatient and outpatient settings as an integrated member of our multidisciplinary teams.

Opportunity Details

  • This Psychologist will spend approximately 50% of their time providing consultation and intervention to children and adolescents coping with a wide range of gastroenterology/gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. This 50% time dedicated to GI may be spread across inpatient consultation, outpatient therapy, and working in an interdisciplinary outpatient clinic setting. There are opportunities to develop new programs to serve the GI population.
  • The remaining 50% of the position will include both inpatient and outpatient work accepting referrals from other medical specialties (e.g., endocrinology, pulmonology, infectious disease, genetics, neurology, and rheumatology). This 50% time allocation may also include inpatient consultation-liaison (CL) services.
  • Training and supervision opportunities with psychology practicum students are available.
  • Psychologists at Levine Children’s Hospital are invited to apply for academic appointment at Wake Forest University School of Medicine on the non-tenure clinical faculty track.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must have completed training in an APA-accredited doctoral and internship program, with training in pediatric or child clinical psychology.
  • Candidates must be licensed or license-eligible clinical psychologists in NC. PSYPACT license also desirable.
  • We encourage applicants with interests or experience in training practicum students and/or postdoctoral fellows.
  • This position requires someone who is skilled at interdisciplinary teamwork, autonomy, time management, communication, adaptability, and evidence-based short-term treatment approaches.

Job Summary

This is a senior level position that provides behavioral health services to patients in a community mental health setting. The primary responsibilities consist of psychological assessment for diagnostic purposes and direct treatment by individual, family and group psychotherapy.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct assessments based on clinical interview, presenting information and clinical standards of program.
  • Demonstrates ability to formulate an appropriate diagnosis using standards established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Writes appropriate treatment plans according to patient diagnosis, age and clinical presentation.
  • Collaborates with appropriate guardians to insure effective service delivery.
  • Provides clinical supervision of Psychologist I, predoctoral interns and/or graduate practicum students in the practice of psychology.
  • Conducts forensic evaluations and provides court testimony as an expert witness when directed.
  • Selects, administers, and interprets psychological instruments, including a written report on psychological evaluation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of various treatment modalities and theoretical applications based on current clinical standards.
  • Writes appropriate discharge plans based on individual needs of client and follows through with termination process.
  • Manages clients in crisis utilizing appropriate skills and assessment.

Physical Requirements

Works in a patient care area with potentially combative or self-destructive patients. Each employee has the responsibility to work in a safe manner. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, and handling of charts and supplies.

Education, Experience And Certifications

Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from, an APA approved training program required; license eligible or currently licensed as a Licensed Practicing Psychologist from the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists required. BLS required per policy guidelines.
