About Job

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS), is seeking motivated and experienced candidates for the role of Psychologist III. The Psychologist III works within Northeast Residential Services (NRS) and has many critical functions that are imperative to insuring the well-being of the residents we serve.

Northeast Residential Services (NRS) is the largest State Operated provider in the Commonwealth and is comprised of 70 homes that are located throughout the Northeast Region of DDS.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Provides a full range of Psychology services (e.g. diagnostic evaluation; functional behavioral assessment, group or individual counseling; positive behavior support plan development and maintenance for an assigned caseload
  • Works with an interdisciplinary team of allied healthcare professionals to coordinate data on problem behaviors, observations and reports of psychiatric symptoms and physiological issues to inform weekly psychopharmacological treatment
  • Trains staff in the proactive prevention of problem behavior
  • Consults with staff to provide program direction for the implementation of Psychology-informed services
  • Assists in the assessment and management of behavioral and psychiatric emergencies

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday: 8:30am-5:00PM (Hours flexible to meet the needs of the individuals served) One weekend day a month.

This position is based in Danvers. The Group Homes that are assigned to this position are located throughout the North Shore, Central Middlesex, Lowell, and Metro North therefore there is some travel required.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have a Doctorate in Psychology from a school accredited by the American Psychological Association.

See Special Requirements, below. Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a Licensed Psychologist in the application of psychological principles and techniques in a recognized agency providing psychological services or treatment.

Special Requirements:

Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology.

Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.


Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
