Overview
The Crisis Worker plays a vital role in providing immediate support and intervention to individuals experiencing emotional or psychological crises. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional who can assess needs, develop appropriate action plans, and connect clients with necessary resources. Crisis Workers are essential in promoting mental health stability and facilitating recovery through various therapeutic approaches. This position includes an additional 8% night differential and an additional 5% weekend differential.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients in crisis to determine immediate needs and appropriate interventions.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing techniques from behavioral therapy and addiction counseling.
  • Implement case management strategies to connect clients with community resources, including home community care services.
  • Offer support for individuals dealing with PTSD, ensuring they receive the necessary care and guidance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each client's unique situation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Engage with children and families to provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in social work and crisis management.

Requirements

  • A degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Correctional experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in addiction counseling, behavioral therapy, or related areas is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of case management practices and community resources available for crisis intervention.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including children and families.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate effective counseling sessions.
  • Familiarity with coding for mental health documentation is a plus.
  • A compassionate approach to crisis situations, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards clients' experiences.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed to provide continuous support.
